Congratulations to Fulbright Finalist Iftin Abshir (Chemistry, BS & Screenwriting, BA, 2015). Iftin simultaneously attained her B.S. in Chemistry and her B.A. in Screenwriting with Theatre and Film Studies minors from Loyola Marymount University. After graduation, she worked for the Center for Urban Resilience, an on-campus non-profit environmental organization, to develop campus Sustainability Tours that highlight the various sustainable and green technologies LMU uses every day. Iftin now spends her time volunteering in the Children’s Department at her local library and helping the elderly with daily tasks. Iftin hopes to travel to London on a Fulbright Study/Research grant, where she will investigate the historical periodization of a British Film Noir tradition through the M.A. program at Queen Mary University of London. Her research will focus on the comparison and correlation of the Film Noir traditions of Great Britain and the United States during the 1940s and 1950s. She is grateful to Professor Elizabeth Drummond for her guidance during the Fulbright application process.
