Mark your calendars for a historic milestone in LMU’s story: the Inauguration of Thomas Poon, Ph.D., LMU’s 17th president, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Inauguration is more than a single day; it’s a season of celebration that belongs to all of us. The inauguration is a platform to showcase the best of LMU: our creativity, our scholarship, our teacher-scholar tradition—all of which animates our mission and inspires change in our communities and beyond. It’s a collective moment to reflect on who we are, to celebrate how far we’ve come, and to embrace the bold vision we will shape together.
Festivities will span our campuses and the city, beginning with the beloved traditions like the ASLMU Christmas Tree Lighting and extending to academic programs, student and faculty engagement, and community gatherings. All roads lead to December 9, when the celebration crescendos with:
- Inauguration Missioning Mass in Sacred Heart Chapel
- Inauguration Community Luncheon on Alumni Mall
- Investiture Ceremony in the newly renovated Gersten Pavilion with delegates and distinguished guests from across the nation, reaffirming LMU’s role in higher education
The season will also ripple across Los Angeles, with signature moments like LMU Day at City Hall and LMU Day at the Rams, spotlighting LMU’s profound connection to the city we proudly call home.
Together, we will honor LMU’s mission, celebrate the transformative impact of Catholic higher education, and embrace a new chapter of Lion pride under President Poon’s leadership.
