
Fr. Batsis was ordained in the Carmelite Order in 1970 and went on to serve as a teacher, counselor and principal in Catholic schools in Kentucky and California before joining LMU in 1982. Through his 30 years at LMU, he taught courses in psychology and counseling, directed the field experience component of the school counseling program, and served as program director and department chair.
A published author and expert on Catholic school leadership, school safety and youth gangs, Fr. Batsis holds teaching credentials in Kentucky and California and is a credentialed school counselor and a licensed psychologist. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Salpointe Catholic High School (Tucson, AZ), the Council of Advisors of the Specialty Family Foundation, and the Board of Regents of the Da Vinci Schools.
Fr. Batsis has been recognized by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools for dedicated service to Catholic education and by the National Gang Crime Research Center for outstanding contributions to scholarship, service and innovations in gang research issues.
