The Producers Guild of America (PGA) have announced that they will honor alumna Barbara Broccoli and her brother/partner Michael G. Wilson – producers of the James Bond franchise – with the David O. Selznick Achievement Award.
“Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are the driving force behind one of the most cherished franchises in the history of film,” said PGA Awards Co-Chairs Lori McCreary and Michael De Luca. “Thanks to the consistency and steadfastness of their creative vision, generations of moviegoers have been able to share the adventures of one of our iconic heroes.”
Broccoli, daughter of original James Bond producer Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, began her work on the Bond films at age 17. In 1995, she and Wilson shepherded the 007 franchise into a new era on GoldenEye, which became the highest grossing Bond film at the time. She has produced every Bond movie since, including the most recent box office hit, Skyfall.
The Selznick award recognizes a producer’s body of work in motion pictures. Previous recipients include Clint Eastwood, Billy Wilder, Brian Grazer, Jerry Bruckheimer, Roger Corman, Kathleen Kennedy & Frank Marshall and Steven Spielberg, among others. The award will be presented at the 25th Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on January 19, 2014 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
