Aidin Namin, associate professor of marketing analytics, has added two national accolades to his growing collection.
In August, Namin was selected as the winner of the 2024 Geraldine Rosa Henderson Early-Career Memorial Award. Named after a champion of social justice, this prestigious award presented by the Marketing Ethnic Faculty Association (MEFA) recognizes faculty who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and service within the 10 years since earning their Ph.D. This marks the first time a faculty member from a non-R1 institution has received this recognition in the award’s history. Following last year’s “40 Under 40 Best Business Professors” award, this marks Namin’s second time receiving a national award for excellence in all three aspects of a faculty role.
The marketing field has four major national teaching awards: the American Marketing Association (AMA) award, the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators (ACME) award, the Marketing Management Association (MMA) award, and the Society for Marketing Advances (SMA) award. In September, Namin was presented the 2024 Master Teacher Award by the MMA. This annual award is considered the highest distinction in teaching and honors outstanding educators who demonstrate an excellent track record of effective and innovative teaching. With his MMA win, Namin became the first faculty in the country to bring home three of these four national awards. He is hopeful that he will receive the SMA award in the future.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive these distinguished awards,” said Namin. “I would like to thank my students for their support and always pushing me to do my best. I feel inspired by our amazing students every single day. I believe these awards are theirs.”
Described by his students as “a professor impossible to forget,” Namin is passionate about teaching and providing his students with a truly transformative education. He co-founded the Marketing Analytics (MA) pathway for undergraduate students in 2017 and the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) graduate program in 2018. Since then, he has taught various courses in these programs, including working closely with industry partners on live capstone projects. “In real estate they say location, location, location. In teaching I would say student, student, student,” he said.
An award-winning scholar and a Fulbrighter, Namin’s research interests are applications of data analytics in the retailing and digital marketing domains. He frequently brings his scholarship and industry experience into the classroom. Most recently, the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomacy Lab selected Namin’s project bid.
An internationally known teacher and scholar, Namin is dedicated to serving the community and mentors doctoral students and junior faculty at various institutions globally. He also serves as co-chair for the AMA Retailing and Pricing Special Interest Group (SIG) and has co-chaired major conferences in the field.
