The LMU School of Education has named Michelle Duro, M.Ed., its next Director of Development.
Duro comes to the LMU School of Education from the Girl Scouts of Orange County, where she served as Vice President of Development. There, she led the effort to support a multi-million dollar comprehensive campaign to complete a historic 6,100 square foot state-of-the-art Girl Scout STEM Leadership Center in Newport Beach’s Marina Park, which will support nearly 21,000 Girl Scouts throughout every zip code in the region.
Duro holds 14 years of experience as a senior-level development leader at several universities, including William Paterson University in New Jersey; East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania; and University of California, Irvine as its first Director of Development for its newly established School of Education.
At the LMU School of Education, Duro will lead the school’s fundraising initiatives with a focus on supporting student scholarships and academic programs, growing research opportunities, and building relationships with alumni and friends of the university – including the LMU School of Education Board of Visitors and the SOE Alumni Association.
“As the SOE seeks to grow its impact in schools and communities in Los Angeles and beyond, I am confident that Michelle will be an excellent leader in this position and a strong asset to the SOE,” said Mary K. McCullough, interim dean of the School of Education.
Michelle earned her master’s degree in Education from East Stroudsburg University, and her Bachelor of Science degrees in English, Journalism and Spanish Language from Montclair State University.
