As part of LMU SFTV’s ongoing dedication to empowering the next generation of leaders in entertainment, LMU is once again proud to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters LA (BBBSLA) and The Hollywood Reporter for the Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program.
Since 2013, select students from the program, which pairs BIPOC high school students with high-powered entertainment executive mentors, are awarded 4-year scholarships that include tuition, room and board, and support services to LMU. To date, 28 young women of color have received full scholarships to LMU and all graduates have gone on to secure job placement or pursue graduate studies.
This year, the annual event celebrating THR’s Power 100 and the scholarship winners evolved into a broadcast special from Lifetime. Hosted by Padma Lakshmi and featuring star-studded appearances, Lifetime and The Hollywood Reporter Present Women in Entertainment: The Next Generation will air Monday, May 24 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET.
“It has always been my dream to pursue a college education,” said one of this year’s LMU scholarship recipients, “…and to see it realized and so close in the future makes my heart pound with excitement.”
The LMU Women in Entertainment Scholarship program is one of several initiatives that SFTV prioritizes in its ongoing mission to champion diverse, emerging voices in the industry.
