The Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts is proud to welcome Ning Guan, who has joined the LMU community through the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program. The competitive Fulbright FLTA program places international students in U.S. universities to teach their native language and foster cultural exchange. Guan, who is from China, will be tutoring students in Chinese classes this year.
“Our partnership with the Fulbright program provides LMU students with a unique opportunity to learn Chinese from China’s selected talents,” says Chan Lu, associate professor of Modern Languages and Literatures. “I feel honored to be guiding this process.” Lu hopes students will take advantage of the cross-cultural opportunity to learn from the visiting educator.
Before arriving at LMU, Guan taught English for three years at the Harbin University of Science and Technology in the Heilongjiang Province in China. She has both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in English literature. Guan was chosen from a large applicant pool and is the second international teaching assistant LMU has hosted through the Fulbright FLTA program.
