The Loyola Marymount University Dance Program’s annual spring concert featuring 11 original student-choreographed dances will be performed Wednesday, April 5, through Saturday, April 8, in the Strub Theater.
UnDivided — a name embodying feelings about life and working together — will also include an original piece by professional choreographer Jess Harper. Sponsored by the College of Communication and Fine Arts, the spring concert will spotlight a range of dance styles — from modern to contemporary to hip hop — and solos, duets and larger group works inviting the audience to think and feel in the same moment.
The concert includes five solos: “IX. XI. XV” by Brigitte Axelrode, performed to live piano music by David Karagianis; “Pause” by Justice Domingo; “It Comes in Waves” by Abby Miller and Nicole Closson; “Alone” by Hailey Transue; and “Singulier” by Rie Fukushima. The duets are: “She’s Very … Complicated,” by Olivia Parker and Haley Loeffler; “Shoulder to Shoulder” by Eva Crystal and Halie Donabedian; “Break” by Riley Higgins and Haley Hoekstra; and “Pause” by Justice Domingo.
Larger group works include “Glitch” by Celine Chai, Tippy Dringman, and Mason Gray; “Only If” by Riley Higgins; “Don’t Touch” by Justice Domingo and guest artist Harper’s dance, choreographed for the freshman class.
All shows start at 8 p.m. Advance ticket purchases are recommended. Call 310-338-5466 or visit http://bit.ly/2nAOSwJ.
