The Hollywood Reporter has released their annual “Top 25 American Film Schools” list, and Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television continues to be ranked among the best programs in the nation, coming in at number 8. This year’s rankings were based on interviews with academic experts, industry professionals and scores of film school alumni.
The article features an interview with LMU alumna/award-winning producer Effie Brown ‘93, and highlights SFTV’s student-to-teacher ratio and growing programs and facilities, saying, “The school — based in Westchester, Calif., remains smallish — 12 students per teacher — but its curriculum continues to grow. It’s launching a facility in neighboring Silicon Beach and new certificate programs in documentary and digital storytelling and media.”

It’s gratifying to have our stellar programs recognized by the industry, and an honor that speaks volumes about the efforts of our faculty, students, donors and industry partners,” said Stephen Ujlaki, dean of the School of Film and Television.
This marks the third year in a row that SFTV has earned one of the top spots on The Hollywood Reporter’s annual film school list. Last year, the outlet praised SFTV for its strong internship program and access, saying “the school is wired into the industry like few others.” In April 2016, USA Today ranked SFTV number 6 in “The 10 best U.S. Schools for Pursuing a Film Degree.”
