Loyola Marymount University’s School of Education continues to rise in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 “Best Graduate Schools” rankings, moving up to No. 57 in the nation’s list of best graduate education programs.
“This year’s rise in U.S. News rankings underscores the LMU School of Education’s commitment to providing students with an outstanding education that bridges current data-driven research with real-world practice,” said Interim Dean Mary K. McCullough, Ph.D. “Our continued rise in these rankings reflects how the dedication, passion, and excellence of our students, faculty, and staff shines brightly in support of our mission to prepare visionary leaders who transform schools and communities across the state, country, and the world.”
LMU SOE has moved up steadily since it was first eligible for consideration in the graduate program rankings in 2008 when it launched LMU SOE’s Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership for Social Justice – receiving its first placement at 117th on the list. In addition, the LMU SOE Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership for Social Justice contributed significantly to the university recently becoming a Carnegie Classification Doctoral University: High Research Activity (R2) institution.
Today, LMU SOE is the third-highest ranked Jesuit institution in the country, and ranked third among private, independent institutions in California.
In addition, LMU SOE is in the top 15 percent of the 392 graduate schools of education surveyed for this year’s rankings and within the top 5 percent of the 1,500 schools, colleges and departments of education nationwide.
