Loyola Marymount University has been named to the inaugural Excellence in Community College Transfer Honor Roll by the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. This weekend, LMU is being recognized as one of the top schools in country for its efforts to help transfer students become successful university graduates.
Phi Theta Kappa, the oldest and most prestigious honor society for students pursuing two-year degrees, is honoring 40 colleges and universities as institutions that “have created dynamic pathways to support community college transfers.”
The goal of PTK’s recognition program is to connect community college students with institutions that value their unique transfer experience and prioritize their success
“To be one of only 40 PTK Honor Roll institutions speaks to LMU’s commitment to transfer students and our reputation as a transfer-friendly university,” said Tom Gutto, LMU’s director of transfer enrollment services.
Maureen Weatherall, Ph.D., LMU’s vice provost for enrollment management, said, “To be recognized by this organization for the tremendous effort we have devoted to ensuring transfer student success, is an honor and a testament to LMU’s capacity to recruit top-notch transfer students.”
The schools were selected on effective engagement, collaboration, impact, and achievements related to the transfer of community college students as well as partnerships, support, admissions outreach, scholarships/financial aid, student engagement opportunities and institutional priorities.
The honor roll designation award will be announced at the society’s annual convention in National Harbor, Maryland, April 7 – 9.
