LMU has been recognized as a silver-level Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Bicyclists. The university joins an elite group of 222 colleges and universities in 47 states that are taking action to create bicycle-friendly campuses.
LMU encourages bicycling as an option for sustainable transportation and provides amenities such as The Cycling Lion, LMU’s campus bike shop that serves university students, faculty and staff.
“Being promoted to silver is just a small acknowledgment of all the hard work the Cycling Lion and Green LMU have done to promote biking, living sustainably, and living happily,” said Cole Melton ’22, Cycling Lion manager. “I am most proud of the community that we have created with all of our customers. Each year we increase our on-campus presence, and this has led to increased student biking and a biking community that can be felt throughout the school.” To learn more about the league and its Bicycle Friendly University program visit bikeleague.org/university and visit lmu.edu/cyclinglion to learn more about The Cycling Lion’s programs and services.
