Loyola Marymount University has been recognized in the 2021 edition of The Princeton Review’s Best 386 Colleges list, earning top 20 spots for its library and science lab facilities, counseling services, students’ commitment to service, and more.
This year, LMU is featured in several categories of The Princeton Review’s “Top 20 Colleges” lists, including Best College Library, No. 7; and Best Science Lab Facilities, No. 9. A new category in the review names the colleges at which students most highly rated their school’s mental health counseling services, putting LMU at No. 18 for Best Counseling Services.
LMU also ranks fourth on the list of Students Most Engaged in Community Service, and No. 16 for Happiest Students. The university’s scenic bluff-top location in Westchester again earned high marks, as LMU ranked No. 11 for Most Beautiful Campus.
“Armed with a ‘strong Jesuit’ tradition, Loyola Marymount University on the Westside of Los Angeles places an emphasis on both ‘social justice’ as well as ‘the education of the whole person,’” The Princeton Review notes.
“Students also greatly benefit from an ‘academic program [that] promotes learning in multiple … fields rather than just the major you choose.’ Hence, ‘an engineering major will be proficient in writing. An English major will understand higher-level math. [And] a business student will be experience[d] in art history.’”
The guide features only about 13 percent of the country’s four-year colleges.
The Princeton Review college rankings are entirely based on surveys of college students, who rate their schools on dozens of topics and report on their campus experiences exclusively for this project. The ranking lists are based on surveys of 143,000 students at the 386 colleges in the book.
