Loyola Marymount University was named one of the nation’s “Most Innovative Colleges” while holding onto its No. 3 spot in the best regional universities in the West, according to the 2019 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of American colleges and universities.
For the third year in a row, LMU’s Seaver College of Science and Engineering made the top 20 undergraduate engineering programs at schools where no doctorate is offered. Additionally, LMU ranks among the best 100 undergraduate business programs, and continues to rank in the top 20 for its entrepreneurship (11), marketing (13) and accounting (18) programs.
LMU appeared on the publication’s list of innovative colleges for the first time, right after the opening of the new LMU Playa Vista Campus, a groundbreaking space in the heart of the Silicon Beach tech community. The new campus will be a hub for film and business students at LMU to develop opportunities for industry partnerships and an incubator for new ideas in the tech and creative fields.
The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings come on the heels of a newly released list by the Times Higher Education and the Wall Street Journal, which put LMU in the top 15 percent of institutions nationwide. Additionally, Forbes ranked LMU in the top quarter of U.S. colleges, and the university was cited by the Chronicle of Higher Education as a top producer of Fulbright scholars.
In March, LMU secured top spots in U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of graduate programs, with the College of Business Administration placing 11th for its graduate entrepreneurship specialty; 12th for marketing; 16th for its graduate accounting program; and 14th for its Executive MBA program. LMU’s School of Education ranked 58th nationwide, and Loyola Law School held onto its high rank in the category of best law schools, coming in at No. 65 nationwide.
