
Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., will be installed as the 16th president of Loyola Marymount University in an inauguration ceremony in Gersten Pavilion on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 1:30 p.m. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti will be among the featured speakers at the ceremony.
Before being selected LMU president, Snyder was vice president for academic affairs at Loyola University Maryland from 2007-14. He began his academic career at Georgetown University in 1987 and became dean of science before moving to Fairfield University as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in 2001. As an accomplished academic, Snyder has received numerous grants and recognitions for his work in applied mathematics and has focused on guiding his students to academic success. His teaching career also developed through visiting faculty positions at Berklee College of Music in Boston and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has also taught at Princeton University and the University of Toledo.
Prior to the inauguration, Michael F. Weiler, S.J., provincial of the Jesuits California Province, will preside over an inauguration Mass in the university’s Sacred Heart Chapel.
