Hawley C. Almstedt
Professor of Health and Human Sciences
Almstedt, who earned a doctorate in exercise physiology, specializes in sports nutrition and bone health and can offer insights about the athletes’ fitness regimens, training, endurance and exercise programs. She is a former collegiate gymnast and gymnastics judge.
Shaun M. Anderson
Assistant Professor of Organizational Communication
Anderson is an expert on social responsibility and sport, which encompasses aspects of race and sport, diversity and sport, leadership in sport, and community development through sport. He has written extensively about athlete activism, the social well-being of athletes, and how sport organizations can engage in community development.
Assistant Professor of Communication Studies
Finlay specializes in digital media/social media; the Olympics and international sports communication; public diplomacy; and American and Canadian politics. He can comment on the political and diplomatic implications of the South Korean hosts (including the evolving participation of North Korea and the larger regional context), athletes and social media, nationalism, Olympic sponsorship, broadcasting and the International Olympic Organization, and the dynamics at play between the organizations who collaborate to bring together the Olympics.
William D. Parham
Professor and Department Chair, Educational Support Services
Parham is a professor in the counseling program and chair of the Educational Support Services Department in the School of Education. He has worked with athletes in the National Basketball Association, the National Football League, Major League Baseball, the U.S. Olympic Committee, the U.S. Tennis Association and Major League Soccer, as well as with college, amateur and youth athletes. His areas of expertise include trauma counseling and the interplay between sport psychology, multiculturalism/diversity and health psychology.
Associate Professor of Marketing
Rohm specializes in new media and mobile and social media marketing strategies and can discuss Olympic sponsorships and advertising. He serves on the leadership team of LMU’s M-School Institute of Marketing, and worked previously as sports category director and marketing director at Reebok.
Associate Professor of Health and Human Sciences
Shoepe is an expert in exercise physiology, health and human performance and fitness program management. He can discuss doping and implications of performance enhancing-aids among athletes.
