Judith Scalin, professor and co-chair of the dance department at Loyola Marymount University, was recently recognized for the originality and virtuosity of her work in dance by the UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures as part of their alumni Reunion Tour.
The event honored Scalin and 17 fellow UCLA alumni for their contributions to the arts, as well as their involvement in their communities. “The Reunion Tour” also included performances and poster sessions for the honorees to recognize their many achievements.
“I was surprised and humbled that I was chosen to showcase my work at this prestigious event,” Scalin said. “I was eager to display the wonderful work that our students demonstrate here at LMU and the quality of our program.”
The poster presented by Scalin emphasized her dedication to her students and her work at LMU. Designed with the help of Saeri Cho, assistant professor of art and art history at LMU, the poster included photos from various productions that Scalin has directed over the years.
Scalin earned her B.A. in dance from UCLA and her M.A. from Mills College. She has been the director of the dance department at LMU for 29 years and has established programs that enliven the university’s connection with the Los Angeles dance community.
