Two free concerts featuring music, dance and storytelling will be presented to children ages 3-12 on Sunday, Jan. 28, at Loyola Marymount University.
Concerts of Music for Children, in its 19th year, will highlight music by Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc, Irving Fine, Marc Blitzstein, Karen Tanaka and Koichi Kishi, with performances by members of the Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company and LMU’s chamber and percussion ensembles. The concerts are at 1 and 3 p.m. in Murphy Recital Hall.
Featured on this rich and varied program are LMU music faculty flutist Rik Noyce, percussionist Aaron Smith, pianist Tania Fleischer and violinist Ken Aiso.
Artwork by students from the LMU Family of Schools will accompany the music and be on display in the courtyard.
The concerts are sponsored by the College of Communication and Fine Arts’ Department of Music and funded by the Sinatra Opera Endowment.
