Loyola Marymount University is one of the top universities in the nation when it comes to students who earn a prestigious Fulbright grant to study internationally, the U.S. Department of State has announced.
For the 2016-17 school year, eight LMU students received Fulbright grants, placing the university second nationwide among Master’s universities—LMU’s category in the Carnegie classification system, which is used by education researchers to distinguish between different types of colleges and universities.
LMU students awarded Fulbright grants studied in countries around the world, including Finland, Mexico, Malta, Poland, Greece and The Netherlands.
The Fulbright Program, the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program, is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. Since its inception in 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 300,000 participants—chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.
