Newly released data about members of Loyola Marymount University’s undergraduate Class of 2015 shows impressive results about their paths after leaving the Bluff: ninety-one percent landed jobs, entered grad school programs or began post-graduate service.
The School of Film & Television logged the highest employment rate (83 percent), followed closely by the College of Business Administration (79 percent), the data shows. Additionally, the Frank R. Seaver College of Science & Engineering ushered 50 percent of its graduates off to top-tier graduate and professional programs.
These are just some of the stats available at outcomes.lmu.edu, a new website offering a look at students’ paths using “first destination” data collected six months after graduation. LMU is among just a handful of universities nationwide to provide such current and reliable information about its graduates online.
LMU President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., cited students’ employment activity in Silicon Beach as a distinguishing characteristic of the university.
“LMU’s location in Silicon Beach is a game-changer. Our students land coveted jobs at companies such as Snapchat, Yelp and Tesla,” Snyder said. “We are the preferred campus for which talent is recruited. Employers view our students as remarkably nimble because of our liberal arts curriculum. And, our students have a strategic advantage in achieving their career goals because we are geographically and programmatically linked to the world’s capital of creativity and tech innovation.”
Maureen Weatherall, vice provost for enrollment management, said the site will continue to expand with future data and serve as a valuable resource.
“We created the Outcomes website to give prospective students and their families a clear picture of what our students are able to achieve through an LMU education. Post-graduate outcomes will be captured through this resource for all future LMU students,” Weatherall said.
“LMU students enter the working world equipped with skills and competencies desired by employers in every sector and industry,” said Branden Grimmett, associate provost for career and professional development. “Our office engages all students the moment they step foot on campus, assisting them throughout their four years with everything from internship applications to salary negotiation. Students graduate LMU poised for success.”
