Clinical Assistant Professor of Screenwriting, Karol Hoeffner, is adding playwright to her already impressive list of novel, screen and television credits. She recently penned the book to an original children’s musical, Christmas at the Pier, featuring a cast of 36 fourth through eighth graders.
Taking place in 1944, Christmas at the Pier tells the story of Sara Gibson, a mother with four daughters, who works hard to keep her family together while her husband Vincent is away at war. Due to the war, many people in her small town want to cancel Christmas, but help comes from an unexpected source and the entire town learns the lessons of hope and love.
Christmas at the Pier runs December 13-15th at the MBCC Community Hall Theater in Manhattan Beach. Music and Lyrics by Martine Tabilio. Arranged and performed by Alan Billingsley.
