Karl Rove, columnist, political strategist and deputy chief of staff to former President George W. Bush, will be the featured speaker for this year’s First Amendment Week at Loyola Marymount University on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m.
Considered the architect of Bush’s two winning presidential campaigns, Rove served as Senior Advisor to the President from 2000–2007 and Deputy Chief of Staff from 2004–2007. Before joining the Bush team, he was president of Karl Rove & Company, an Austin-based public affairs firm that worked for Republican candidates, non-partisan causes, and non-profit groups.
This is the seventh annual First Amendment Week celebration at LMU which is co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Loyolan student newspaper and Associated Students of LMU. Previous speakers include Bill Maher, Arianna Huffington, Ann Coulter and James Carville.
