After nearly 30 years as a staff member at Loyola Marymount University, Judy Delavigne will be retiring effective May 31, 2020. Delavigne joined the College of Communication and Fine Arts’ Dean’s office as an Academic Affairs Associate in 2011. Previously, she was the Executive Assistant to the President and, prior to working for Fr. O’Malley and Fr. Lawton, she was the Executive Secretary to the Academic Vice President.
Born in San Diego, California, Delavigne left San Diego State at the end of her sophomore year to join TWA as a flight attendant and served as spokesperson and model for TV and commercial ads. She met her future husband, a prosecuting attorney, while serving on jury duty. Delavigne returned to college and completed a B.A. in Art History at Loyola Marymount University, and went on to earn a paralegal certification (cum laude) in litigation at UWLA. She then joined LMU in 1991, earning a Master’s in Education Administration where she received the Distinguished Graduate Award, followed by an M.A. in Bioethics.
A deeply involved community member, Delavigne’s professional memberships include: Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Westchester. Under her leadership as president, the Rotary Club earned the District’s Club of Excellence Award (2017-2018); she is a former member of the Board of Directors of the LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Board of Directors of Airport Marina Counseling Service, and was the recipient of the Hugo A. Francis Volunteer Award of then Westchester/LAX-Marina Del Rey Chamber of Commerce.
Currently, Delavigne is a volunteer on the CoVid-19 Support Coalition for WPV Cares and its Task Force supporting the organization’s work in responding to the needs of the broader senior community in Westchester, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, and Marina del Rey. Upon retirement she plans to continue with volunteering, and spend time with her family, which includes her son John, daughter Cami, and her three young grandchildren.
