LMU School of Film and Television has announced the complete line-up for its 8th season of The Hollywood Masters, our acclaimed interview series, hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Stephen Galloway and filmed by students and alumni before a live student audience on the LMU campus. The season will kick off on September 27 with Academy Award-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren (Gosford Park, Prime Suspect, The Queen).
The rest of the season’s guests include writer-director Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, and the recently released, Mother!), actor Sir Patrick Stewart (Green Room, Logan), and actor-director James Franco (Freaks and Geeks, 127 Hours, and the upcoming The Disaster Artist). The season will end on November 15th with writer-producer-director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, and the upcoming The Shape of Water).
“The Hollywood Masters, our flagship program, gives our students an opportunity to learn directly from some of the most incredible talents in the industry,” said Stephen Ujlaki, dean of the School of Film and Television.”I am thrilled with this season’s lineup which is comprised of artists and innovators who are known for pushing the boundaries of cinema.”
Added Galloway: “I grew up in England revering the work of Helen Mirren and Patrick Stewart, and it’s thrilling to get the chance to interview them in real depth like this. My other guests are some of the film artists I most admire today — Aronofsky and Franco and del Toro — each of them brave and original and fearless, even in a studio system that makes it ever harder to be so.”
The Hollywood Masters tapings are open to LMU students, faculty and alumni only.
Season 1 of the series is now streaming on Netflix.
