Loyola Marymount University’s distinguished Global Conversations Series, hosted by renowned scholar Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., will welcome entertainer John Legend, actor and singer Sheryl Lee Ralph, and actor Joe Manganiello.
Gates, an award-winning filmmaker, journalist, cultural critic, and institution builder, guides powerful discussions centered on race, family, heritage, identity, and human experiences. He is the host of the PBS acclaimed series “Finding Your Roots.”
This year’s series opens with a marquee event featuring EGOT-winning artist and humanitarian John Legend, who will join Gates on Monday, Sept. 8 at 4:30 p.m. on the Drollinger Family Stage on LMU’s Westchester campus. The evening will include a screening of Legend’s episode from “Finding Your Roots,” followed by a discussion centering on Legend’s identity, heritage, and more.

Presented by the Office of the Provost, the Marymount Institute for Faith, Culture, and the Arts, and the Division of Student Affairs, the Global Conversations Series brings scholars, artists, activists, writers, entrepreneurs, and creatives to the LMU campus to engage with and inspire the community.
