The roar of the crowd, the flash of the Los Angeles Rams jerseys, and the unmistakable buzz of summer on the bluff – Training Camp 2025 turned LMU into the heartbeat of Los Angeles football for nine action-packed days.
Fans poured through the gate to see the Rams up close, but they left with something more: a connection to Loyola Marymount University. Whether it was a high-five at the LMU tent, a snapshot under crimson-and-blue banners, or a conversation with a student intern, the university’s spirit was everywhere.
This year’s Training Camp wasn’t just bigger – it was smarter, more energized and more connected. Over 20 local and regional leaders, including representatives from Mayor Karen Bass’ office and LA28, could be spotted chatting with President Thomas Poon, Ph.D., and snapping selfies with Iggy. Community members from the Westchester/Playa del Rey area took part in open practices and the faculty/staff could be spotted in the stands cheering for the Rams. Fan attendance reached unprecedented levels, totaling 15,550 guests over nine days.
Students were at the heart of it all. Thirty-eight LMU interns learned how to run a large-scale event in real time, gaining hands-on experience in guest operations, marketing, and logistics. “Getting the chance to work with a professional NFL team is such a great experience,” said Rams Training Camp intern Ryan Leslie ’26. “A partnership like this gives us a real-world look at what it’s like to work in a professional setting, whether you’re into sports, business, media, or even something like theater.” LMU’s very own Spirit Squad got to meet with a professional NFL cheer team, trading tips, tricks, and experiences with Rams Cheer. Rams Training Camp also brought potential future Lions to campus, welcoming students from surrounding high schools as part of the Upward Bound program, in partnership with the LMU School of Education, and students from South Korea participating in the Global Leadership Program in the LMU College of Business Administration. The bluff became a meeting ground for more than just football.
Training Camp was a true partnership – the Rams brought the football magic, and LMU made sure the campus played its part flawlessly. Departments across the university worked tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the event running smoothly for nine action-packed days.
And the next celebration of LMU pride isn’t far off: LMU Day at the Rams is set for Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, when the Los Angeles Rams face the Detroit Lions at SoFi Stadium. Join fellow Lions for an exclusive pre-game fan experience and giveaways. Information on discounted tickets can be found at lmu.edu/rams.
