Five Loyola Marymount University professors are featured in the new book “The 300 Best Professors,” published today by the Princeton Review. LMU’s total is more than any other college or university in Southern California.
The book singled out Curtis Bennett in mathematics, Megan Granich in mathematics, Arthur Gross-Schaefer in marketing and business law, Brad Elliott Stone in philosophy, and Robert D. Winsor in marketing and business law as leading examples of excellence among college professors.
“It’s no surprise at all to see so many of our faculty being named to this list of the nation’s best professors,” said LMU President David W. Burcham. “Providing students with a top-notch education is the most important part of a university’s mission, and we take pride in doing so.”
The selections for the guide were made on the basis of student ratings provided to the online review site RateMyProfessors.com and from a combination of surveys and interviews conducted by Princeton Review staff.
Only 121 colleges and universities had faculty included in the guide. Of those, just a handful of universities nabbed as many spots on the list as LMU.
The LMU faculty members chosen for the guide are regularly named by students as outstanding educators. All have been honored for their teaching, and three — Bennett, Gross-Schaefer, and Winsor — have won LMU’s President’s Fritz B. Burns Distinguished Teaching Award in previous years.
