
A select group of entrepreneurship students, faculty and alumni were invited to the 2015 LMU Entrepreneurship Alumni Wall of Honor & Student Awards Celebration on the evening of Monday, April 13. Nearly 100 guests mixed and mingled over cocktails and appetizers followed by a formal dinner and awards ceremony.
Hosted by David Choi, Director of the Fred Kiesner Center for Entrepreneurship, the evening recognized top entrepreneurship students as well as two outstanding LMU alumni who have made significant contributions to the field of entrepreneurship:
Don Hutchison ’80 MBA
Don is a seasoned technology entrepreneur and investor who’s founded numerous companies over the past 30 years. Since 2002, his principal employment has been as an angel investor in startup technology companies. He enjoys helping entrepreneurs define and achieve their company vision, client focus, product direction and sales & marketing strategy. Don currently serves on the AVRS Board of Directors and in the past served as principal, board member, advisor and/or investor for six companies that went public, including Netcom, @Home and Marin Software, and others that were acquired, including Recurrent Energy (Sharp), Revision3 (Discovery), Vizu (Nielsen) and Creative Market (Autodesk). Don earned an MBA from LMU and a BA in economics from UC Santa Barbara.
William “Bill” Strickland ’71 BBA
As Senior Managing Partner of Stealth Sports/Stealth SME, Bill is one of the most successful business executives and sports agents in the nation. He has represented numerous pro athletes like Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Allan Houston, Rasheed Wallace, Daunte Culpepper and Joakim Noah, while consummating approximately $2 billion in gross compensation for his clients. He has advised various organizations and sports properties regarding athlete relationships and the integration of brands with sports and entertainment properties. Bill is a CBA alumnus and former Regent of LMU, and received an MBA from UCLA and a JD from Georgetown. He is a true triple threat – achieving enormous success as a sports agent, attorney and entrepreneur.
Don and Bill were presented with special plaques that will forever hang on the Alumni Entrepreneurship Wall of Honor displayed on the third floor of the Hilton Building.
