Ellen Ensher, professor of management in the College of Business Administration (CBA) at LMU, has been named one of the Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professors of 2022 by Poets & Quants for Undergrads, a news website dedicated to business education. Ensher was selected from more than 500 nominations by students, faculty and staff across the country, including several international schools.
“This recognition is very meaningful to me as it validates all the behind-the-scenes work I put in to being the best professor I can be,” said Ensher. “The last few years have been challenging with the switch to online teaching and mask protocols, yet I now have a whole new set of skills thanks to the support from CBA and the endless patience and good nature of my students.”
Ensher has taught at LMU for 25 years and is considered one of the nation’s leading experts on mentoring. She has four courses available on LinkedIn Learning, over 50 published academic articles and book chapters, and her own book, “Power Mentoring: How Successful Mentors and Proteges Get the Most Out of Their Relationships.”
Some of Ensher’s teaching awards and recognitions include Inc. magazine’s 100 Best Leadership Speakers of 2018, Eddy Teaching Award 2018, LMU Fritz B. Burns Distinguished Teaching Award 2017 and Fulbright Specialist 2017. Ensher is a global thought leader and a frequent keynote speaker for conferences, as well as for public and private organizations around the world. She is a breast cancer survivor and advocate for women in the workplace.
“Ellen is one of the most beloved professors here at LMU and so deserving of this honor,” said Dayle Smith, dean of LMU College of Business Administration. “Students love her courses and her positive energy and have maintained close relationships with her throughout their careers.”
Ensher earned a Ph.D. in organizational psychology from Claremont Graduate University, a master’s degree in public administration from USC and a B.A. in psychology from LMU.
“I have the best job in the world,” added Ensher. “There are always new people to meet, new things to learn and new opportunities to seize.”
