LMU faculty and administrators gathered on April 6, 2022, in the Hilton Center for Business for the 2002 Faculty Awards ceremony honoring those professors who have distinguished themselves, and marking service anniversaries and others who are retiring.
The President’s Fritz B. Burns Distinguished Teaching Award, named for a major benefactor to the university, was given to Elizabeth Drummond, associate professor of history.
The 2022 Rains Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Works, named for university benefactor Liliore G. Rains, was presented to Leon Wiebers, professor of theatre arts and dance.
The Rains Service Award, which recognizes a tenured member of the professoriate whose service exemplifies the LMU mission, was presented to Marne Campbell, associate professor and chair of African American Studies.
Kristen Covino, assistant professor of biology, was awarded the LMU Award for Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Term Faculty Distinguished Teaching Awards, developed in 2020-21 by the Committee on Excellence in Teaching in partnership with the Provost’s Office, recognize outstanding teaching within the current term faculty with at least a two-year teaching record. The honors went to Ky Henderson, visiting assistant professor of journalism, and Maseru Suzuki, clinical assistant professor of studio arts.
The 2022 Part-Time Faculty Distinguished Teaching Award was given to Michael Noltemeyer, of the rhetorical arts/core faculty.
The LMU Ascending Scholar Awards awardees were: Mikki Kressbach, School of Film and Television; Christopher Murillo, College of Communication and Fine Arts; Mandy Korpusik, Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering; Vanessa Diaz, Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts; and Graham Beattie, Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts.
