Professor David Choi, director of the LMU Fred Kiesner Center for Entrepreneurship, delivered the keynote address at the third annual Yonsei Venture, Innovation and Startup Program (YVIP) Global Conference hosted by Yonsei School of Business in Seoul, Korea.
YVIP aims to promote students’ entrepreneurship-related curricular and extracurricular activities, encourage faculty research, and build a strong global network of startup entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, business leaders and relevant government agencies.
This year’s conference theme centered on “Game, Analytics and Entrepreneurship.” David’s keynote talk, titled “Powering Our Future with Digital Entrepreneurship,” introduced attendees to LMU and Silicon Beach and highlighted the concept of value chain disintermediation, decoupling and extension as well as entrepreneurial competences relevant for the tech startups.
Other speakers included Mike Lewis, Professor of Marketing and Faculty Director of the Analytics Center at Emory University; Young Taek Bae, CIO of Krafton (maker of games such as Battlegrounds and Tera); and Ray Son, CSO of IgaWorks (a prominent data analytics company).
LMU’s College of Business Administration continues to build a strong partnership with Yonsei University, one of the most prestigious schools in Korea. Yonsei is the first and only university in Korea to obtain Triple Crown accreditation in business education – equivalent to the United States’ AACSB, Europe’s EQUIS and Korea’s KABEA.
LMU and Yonsei have a history of collaboration and continue to explore joint programming. Each summer, the LMU Center for Asian Business hosts Yonsei MBA students for a week-long program focused on “Innovation in the Entertainment Industry.” Now in its sixth year, the program treats students, their accompanying professor and associate dean to lectures, a campus tour and corporate visits to companies such as Electronic Arts, IMAX, Disney Animation and Google.
