BMO Stadium, a world-class sports and entertainment venue in the heart of Los Angeles, will host LMU’s 113th Commencement exercises for undergraduate, graduate, and law school students on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11 a.m.
The iconic 22,000-seat venue, designed by Gensler and opened in 2018 in Exposition Park, will offer an elevated experience for LMU’s graduates and their guests. Framed by views of the downtown Los Angeles skyline and the San Gabriel Mountains, the venue will welcome thousands of graduates onto the pitch to celebrate this significant academic milestone.
This year’s commencement will bring together all undergraduate, graduate, and LMU Loyola Law School students in one unified celebration.
LMU’s Westchester and LMU Loyola Law School campuses will remain hubs for events surrounding the main ceremony. Among these, the Commencement Mass will take place on the Drollinger Family Stage on Friday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m. Additional events, including the Academic, Service, and Leadership Awards Convocation, and affinity celebrations will also be held on LMU campuses, with details to be announced. These events honor LMU’s traditions, ensuring that each graduate’s achievements are celebrated with community spirit and pride.
The university announced in February that a logistics review with internal and external partners clarified the challenges with accommodating large-scale events like commencement exercises on LMU Westchester Campus. LMU now joins peer institutions in choosing an off-campus venue appropriately equipped and resourced for crowd management, traffic control, parking, safety, and security.
BMO Stadium is the first open-air stadium to be built in Los Angeles in more than 30 years, and the home to Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), and the National Women’s Soccer League’s Angel City.
