Katrina Sherbina, who will graduate in Spring 2014 with a bio-mathematics major, and Carrie Giesen and Ben Whitesell, who will graduate in Spring 2015 also with applied mathematics majors, presented posters in the 2014 Undergraduate Poster Session at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore. Katrina’s poster was titled “Dynamical Systems Modeling of the Cold Shock Response in Saccharomyces cerevisiae” and was based on her work with Dr. Ben Fitzpatrick, LMU Professor of Mathematics and Dr. Kam Dahlquist, LMU Associate Professor of Biology. Her poster was recognized with an “Outstanding Presentation” award from the Mathematical Association of America. Carrie and Ben jointly presented two posters, “Modeling Coalition Formation Patterns and Pareto Optimization” and “Modeling Civil Violence Patterns Among Coalitions,” which were based on their work with Dr. Ben Fitzpatrick.
