
Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts students received some of the university’s top scholarly honors at the 2016 Academic Awards Convocation, held on Thursday, April 14.
Loyola Marymount University’s Valedictorian for 2016 is Allison Swenson, who is graduating with a psychology major, an English minor in journalism, and a business administration minor. Swenson is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the honors society for Jesuit universities, and a member of Psi Chi, the International Honors Society in Psychology. She served as Editor-in-Chief of the Los Angeles Loyolan for a year before taking an editorial internship at the Los Angeles Times. As Valedictorian, Swenson will deliver a speech at Commencement on Saturday, May 7.

At the Academic Awards Convocation, the University also honored 21 seniors with Presidential Citations, awards that recognize outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service. BCLA’s 2016 awardees were Alexia Barbaro, Mauro Gomez, Ugonma Irene Nwankwo, Kimberly Smith, and Allison Swenson.
