Ambulante California is looking for part-time interns with a passion for film curation and programming. Ambulante California is a new arm of Ambulante A.C., the 2005 non-profit organization founded by actors Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna, which focuses on supporting and promoting documentaries as a tool for social and cultural transformation. Set to launch in September, Ambulante California will begin a traveling pop up cinema tour that will foster communities through documentaries that speak to the greater Los Angeles areas, arming radical social interventions. Several screening events are being planned and produced in the spring, including a highly interactive crowd funding campaign. This is an opportunity to be on the ground floor in formulating an effective radical city-wide transmedia project. Focus will be skewed towards social media and crowd funding campaigns in February and March. One of the main tasks will include heavy research on the history and current landscape of greater Los Angeles urban areas and relationships to ethnic enclaves. Further duties include outreach to grassroots and cultural community organizations, managing documentary short film submissions, screening and evaluating documentary films to program in the festival, social media marketing and promotion, and scouting potential venues. Interns will work out of the Canana office in Santa Monica. An ideal candidate will have skilled knowledge of Microsoft Office, strong graphic design skills, film production experience, excellent research ability, some projection tech knowledge, and a professional, resourceful and proactive attitude. Intern should have their own car, and fluency in Spanish is a plus.
