Busy Philipps, the actress, New York Times best-selling author and television host who got her first break in the entertainment business while attending Loyola Marymount University, will speak on Friday, March 1, at LMU’s Life Sciences Building Auditorium.
Philipps, host of the late-night talk show “Busy Tonight” on E!, will be the featured guest for the Alliance of Women Philanthropists’ Annual Speaker Series. The event is open to the LMU community and the general public; reservations are required by Feb. 24 and can be made here.
As host and executive producer of “Busy Tonight,” Philipps entertains viewers with candid celebrity guest interviews and comedic segments on pop culture and trending news stories. The show premiered in October 2018 – the same month of the release of Philipps’ New York Times best-selling book, “This Will Only Hurt a Little,” a collection of humorous autobiographical essays that can also be found on her social media pages.
Born in Oak Park, Illinois, and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Philipps moved to Los Angeles to attend LMU and pursue an acting career. The former Lion first garnered attention at 19 as the rebel teen Kim Kelly on the television series “Freaks and Geeks,” and went on to earn roles on television shows including “ER,” “Dawson’s Creek,” “Cougar Town” “Vice Principals” and most recently on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” On the big screen, she has starred in the romantic comedy “I Feel Pretty” and in the thriller “The Gift.”
LMU’s Alliance of Women Philanthropists – a community of donors, leaders and decision-makers helping to shape the future of the university – is sponsoring the event.
