LMU’s Institute for Business Ethics and Sustainability works with critical issues at the intersection of business and the common good, with special emphasis on ethical reasoning and the moral imperatives of sustainable development. At times, public policy and the role of the public sector play important roles and IBES engages these issues to enable students, and the broader community, to participate as informed citizens. One example is the October symposium, The New LA: Climate, Collaboration and Real Estate, which brought together industry professionals, public policy leaders and academics to examine the impact of climate change, and related governmental initiatives, on the local real estate sector in Southern California and beyond.
