
Two free concerts featuring music, dance, storytelling and shadow puppetry will entertain young audiences on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at Loyola Marymount University.
The LMU Children’s Concerts – a 20-year campus tradition – will feature music by Mozart, Robert Schumann, Koichi Kishi and Dave Brubeck. The Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Co. and members of Culver City-based Actors’ Gang will perform. Children will be treated to a shadow puppet presentation of Ruth Crawford Seeger’s “Adventures of Tom Thumb,”0 with puppets created by LMU Theatre Department’s own John Burton. Artwork by students from the LMU Family of Schools will be on display.
The performances, recommended for children ages 3-12, are at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in LMU’s Murphy Recital Hall. Seating is first-come, first-served.
LMU music faculty Ken Aiso, Marisa deSliva and Tania Fleischer will perform, along with students from LMU’s chamber and percussion ensembles.
The event is sponsored by the College of Communication and Fine Arts’ Department of Music and funded by the Sinatra Opera Endowment.
