The Loyola Marymount University School of Education presents its 2014 Impact Report – Reshaping Schools & Society: Together in Partnership. At the LMU School of Education, we practice a unique type of partnership – our faculty, staff, students, alumni and partners work together to trigger the kind of change critical for the future of our schools, and our society. Some highlights from our 2014 Impact Report include:
- This year LMU continued to rise in the U.S. News rankings, moving 61 positions since 2011 to 70th in the nation.
- Our faculty received numerous awards and distinctions, published books and journal articles, and secured nearly $6.5 million in sponsored research and contracts.
- LMU’s Ed.D. in Educational Leadership for Social Justice program is celebrating its 10-year anniversary by shining a spotlight on the incredible impact of its more than 100 alumni. Since the program’s inception, its graduates have played key roles in transforming education in Los Angeles and beyond as they work toward a more socially just future for all learners.
- Amid a national reassessment of how K-12 teachers should be prepared, LMU is reconceptualizing its teacher prep programs – building on its strong partnerships with local schools, districts and communities and drawing lessons from the groundbreaking work of two SOE centers: the Center for Math and Science Teaching and the Center for Equity for English Learners.
- The LMU Center for Catholic Education continues to build upon its strong partnerships with both the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Diocese of Orange, providing crucial support through leadership development, teacher preparation, research, and professional development and outreach.
- SOE engages in partnerships in Los Angeles and internationally, including the Mathematics Leadership Corps (a collaboration with the Culver City Unified School District and three foundations), the Lawndale Elementary School District (with grant support from Chevron), and Teach for the Philippines.
