Five renowned classical guitarists will entertain visitors at Loyola Marymount University March 18-20 at the 12th annual Guitar Festival featuring concerts, workshops and vendors.
Presented by the LMU Department of Music, the festival begins at 8 p.m. Friday, March 18, with a performance by the young guitarist Celil Refik Kaya. Saturday and Sunday festivities include concerts and technique workshops by Cameron O’Connor and Andrew York, and the Ewa Jablczynska and Dariusz Kupinksi duo.
New this year, the festival will offer an interactive workshop format led by York – a Grammy-winning performer and composer – who will be guided, in part, by the interests of the audience.
Additional events include a young artist showcase of students from Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, the Central Coast and Las Vegas, and a weekend-long vendor and luthier fair. All performances will take place in Murphy Recital Hall.
