LMU’s 2010 Commencement address was delivered by then-Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.
LMU Newsroom reported that Patrick told thousands assembled in the Sunken Garden that “we need pragmatic and idealistic innovators today, in spite of the crisis around us, and maybe, most especially, because of it.”
Patrick has a strong connection to LMU. His wife attended Loyola Law School and they both were at the undergraduate commencement to celebrate with his nephew, who graduated on May 7.
Patrick announced on November 14, 2019 that he is running for President. The Democrat has not, as of this writing, qualified to be on stage during the upcoming primary debate to be held December 19 at LMU.
