As we enter the 2022 holiday season, LMU is inviting the community back to campus for the annual ASLMU Christmas Tree lighting. This beloved tradition kicks off the season on Friday, Dec. 2, from 5-8 p.m. on Regents Terrace and is open to students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the Westchester community.
“This event has always been an adored event by the Westchester community and loved ones of the LMU community, so I am very excited to spread the holiday joy to a greater audience once again,” said Troy Womack-Henderson ’24, ASLMU chief programming officer.
The theme this year is “Classic Christmas/Visitors from the North Pole.” ASLMU is hosting a classic Christmas Market featuring 10 students and outside vendors, including original student products. ASLMU will also sell light-up necklaces and donate all proceeds to the LMU Food Pantry. Don’t miss your chance to grab the coveted tree-lighting mug for hot cocoa.
The ASLMU programming team and Senator Maya Kalach ’23 also partnered to create an “Education Lane” during the celebration, highlighting on-campus groups featuring how different cultures around the world celebrate the holiday season. “I partnered with Maya Kalach, ASLMU senator, and the ASLMU programming team to bring other holiday traditions to the tree lighting event,” said Womack-Henderson. “I believe this is an integral part of the exhibition and cultivation of all five of the Student EXP pillars that I am very honored to emphasize this year.”
