Ignite the holiday season as LMU invites the community to campus for the annual ASLMU Christmas Tree lighting. This beloved tradition kicks off the season on Friday, Dec. 1, from 5-8 p.m. on Alumni Mall and is open to students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the Westchester community. The tree lighting ceremony will begin around 6 p.m. on Regents Terrace.
ASLMU President Drew Hartz ‘23 shares why this beloved LMU tradition is so special, “Year after year, ASLMU takes great pride in hosting this annual tradition, in creating a space where the LMU and greater Westchester community can all come together no matter their background,” said Hartz. “One space on campus and one moment in time where we can celebrate hope, we can rejoice in each other’s company, and we can do it together – that makes the lighting so special.”
A highlight of the event each year is the the beloved annual Christmas Tree Lighting mug giveaway to fill with hot cocoa for the evening. Mug pickup starts at 4:30 p.m., and there will be two lines available in Sunken Garden, one for LMU students to scan their Corq app and one for the Westchester community. Download the Corq app and show your “Event Pass” at the booth to receive a mug. There will also be a light-up necklace fundraiser, and all proceeds will be donated to the LMU Food Pantry.
