In an effort to better support LMU faculty as teacher-scholars and academic leaders, the university is pleased to announce the establishment of the LMU Center for Faculty Development (CFD), effective June 1, 2024. The CFD represents an expanded Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), and underscores our dedication to fostering a vibrant and inclusive academic community where faculty members have access to resources, training, and opportunities tailored to their needs and aspirations.
As shared by Executive Vice President and Provost Thomas Poon during his March 2024 Convocation Address, a proposal for the CFD was developed by a team of faculty in response to the articulated needs of LMU faculty. The proposal has been approved by the Faculty Senate and the Committee on Excellence in Teaching as a significant milestone in our institutional commitment to supporting and enhancing the professional growth and academic excellence of our faculty members.
“By providing comprehensive support and innovative programming, the Center for Faculty Development aims to empower our faculty to excel in their teaching, research, creative works, and leadership,” said Heather Tarleton, associate provost for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development. “I look forward to the creative engagement that will surely take place in the CFD, and the many opportunities to further faculty and student success.”
