Workday’s bi-annual upgrades, designed to enhance functionality and improve the user experience, are now available. Key changes include:
Menu Enhancements
- The Global Navigation Menu, located in the upper-left corner of the home page, has been redesigned for improved usability.
- Menu items are now grouped by categories, making navigation more intuitive.
- Functionality remains the same — users can still add and edit menu items that will automatically update within the appropriate category.
- The Life Saver icon for “Workday Support” will be removed. However, Workday Support will still be accessible under the “LMU Workday Support” category as part of Workday’s effort to streamline the user experience.
Payroll Costing Allocation Redesign
- The screen layout has been updated for a more user-friendly experience.
Request Compensation Change Redesign
- The screen layout has been refreshed to enhance usability.
If a user encounters any issues after the update, please submit a ticket through ServiceNow.
Also, as of March 24, 2025, Workday users can expect new and updated reference guides, new forms, and upcoming finance office hours.
The reference guides and quick start guides can be found by clicking on Workday Support (Under Menu > LMU Workday Support > Workday Support).

In response to campus feedback requesting shorter guides, LMU recently released a series of quick-start guides that provide a high-level orientation for processes and tasks within Workday. These guides serve as a brief overview, with links to the full reference guides for users who require further details.

New and existing reference guides include an introduction, best practices, relevant security roles, step-by-step instructions, where to find additional resources, tips and FAQs, and more.
- Budgets – Assign/Remove Cost Center Approvers
- Purchasing – Connect to Supplier Website (Purchase Goods from LMU-Approved Vendors)
- Purchasing – Create and Adjust a Receipt for a Purchase Order
- Invoices – Create a Supplier Invoice from a Purchase Order
- Supplier – Find status of a Supplier Request

In addition to Workday updates, Finance Forms have been updated as well. They are at Finance Website :
Off-Cycle Capital Request Form; This form is used for Off-Cycle Capital Project request. If the form is not completed in its entirety, it will be returned.
Asset Disposal Form: This form is required for all disposal of capital assets. The department responsible for disposing of the equipment must complete an Asset Disposal Form and submit it to General Accounting for accurate recording. If the form is not completed in its entirety, it will be returned.
Cashier Deposit Form; This form is required for all deposits to the University Cashier. If the form is not completed in its entirety, it will be returned.
Replenish Petty Cash Form: This form is used to replenish pre-approved petty cash funds. The form must be signed by the custodian of the petty cash fund and submitted to Accounts Payable along with applicable receipts/supporting documents. The list of petty cash custodians is maintained at the Controller’s office. Please contact the Controller’s office to update custodian names, if applicable.
Workday Finance Office Hours Workshops; Starting Jan. 10, 2025, the LMU Finance Division hosting a series of office hours, designed to help answer any questions you may have regarding accounting, accounts payable/expenses, or budgets.
During office hours, Finance staff will be available to provide personalized Workday support. Members of the LMU community are free to drop in any time during the open sessions – no reservation is required. Please join office hours during any of the 2025 sessions listed below:
