In the coming weeks, Workday users can expect to see a series of finance-related improvements and enhancements within the system. Upcoming changes include new and revised reference guides, a new form process, a new dashboard, and a series of finance training workshops.

Quick Start Guides
In response to campus feedback requesting shorter guides, LMU recently released a series of “quick start guides” that provide a high-level orientation for processes and tasks within Workday.
These guides serve as a brief overview, with links to the full reference guides for users who require further details.
The most recently released quick start guide highlights how to Create Spend Authorizations / Request Cash Advance when dealing with expenses.

New and Improved Reference Guides
Each Workday reference guide has been reorganized and updated, to provide a more comprehensive look at any given topic. Now, new and existing reference guides will include an introduction, best practices, relevant security roles, step-by-step instructions, where to find additional resources, tips and FAQs, and more.
Additionally, new and enhanced content has been released on a series of topics, including:
- Expenses: Create Spend Authorizations/Request Cash Advance (Enhanced)
- Expenses: Reconcile Spend Authorization to an Expense Report (New)
- Expenses: Examples of Common Travel Expense Reimbursements (New)
- Expenses: Attach Receipts/Missing Receipts (Enhanced)
- Expenses: Submit expense reimbursements related to Student Organizations (New)
- Procure: Find and update procurement card transactions (New)
- Accounting: Overview of 12 funds and Gifts (New)
- Accounting: Capital projects and fixed assets (New)

Reference guides will continue to be rolled out, and users are encouraged to check back and review existing reference guides. You may learn something new, with additional tips and tricks!
Improved Asset Disposal Form Process
This form is required for all disposal of capital assets. The department responsible for disposing of the equipment must complete an asset disposal form and submit it to General Accounting for accurate recording. If the form is not completed in its entirety, it will be returned. View the new asset disposal form here.
New Workday Dashboard of Key Financial Reports
Workday users can now access a new dashboard called “Workday Key Finance Reports”, which can be added to your menu by selecting your Apps from the main menu, clicking “Add Apps” at the bottom, and searching for “Workday Key Finance Reports”. This dashboard contains a selection of the most frequently used Workday financial reports. Users can run the reports directly from their dashboard.
The dashboard contains four category tabs:
- Financial Performance Reports
- Operational Expense Reports
- Account Balance Detail Reports
- List of Finance Worktag Reports
Under each category, users can see the most frequently used reports.
Workday Training: Finance Workshops
Instructor-led training workshops will be held throughout the fall semester, and users are encouraged to attend and improve their familiarity with the Workday system.
