We are pleased to announce that Human Resources, in consultation with Staff Senate, has formalized a new Vacation Donation policy effective April 1, 2023.
The University recognizes that staff members may have a medical emergency resulting in a need for additional time off and salary supplement. Eligible staff members will be allowed to donate accrued vacation hours from their unused balance to a pool to allow staff member(s) in need of additional paid time off to use as sick pay, in accordance with the policy. This program will be made available to staff members who have been affected by a medical emergency and meet the eligibility criteria in accordance with University guidelines. Requestors will work with Human Resources to determine eligibility. This policy is strictly voluntary for both donors and requestors.
