LMU faculty and staff are invited to join university Chaplain Randy Roche, S.J., for a tour of the Ballona Discovery Park Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from noon – 2 p.m.
The tour is hosted by Eric Strauss, President’s Professor of Biology and executive director of the Center for Urban Resilience (CURes), and Lisa Fimiani, CURes program director and Drollinger Environmental Fellow, who will guide us on a tour of Ballona Discovery Park. The Park is a 2-acre native garden and wildlife habitat that serves as an outdoor teaching laboratory while celebrating the natural and cultural history of the Ballona Wetlands and its native peoples. Come see the monuments created to honor our ancestors and those who save the Ballona Wetlands in modern times.
There is nothing like an in-person visit to this park, where visitors can touch and smell the leaves of native plants, hear the various birds, and learn more about the history of the area by guides who are also guardians of this unique space “below the bluff.” View Ballona Discovery Park to experience a visual tour, celebrating 12 years. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP here.
