Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Tom Gutto ’01 has been promoted to associate vice provost for undergraduate enrollment. Tom is a valuable member of LMU’s Enrollment Management leadership team with more than 16 years of experience supporting prospective first-year and transfer students in their journey to LMU. Before his appointment as the assistant vice provost for undergraduate enrollment in 2020, Tom served as the director of Transfer Admission and Enrollment Services.
His dynamic leadership has proved an invaluable benefit to the university. Tom and his team continue to deliver a record number of undergraduate applications year after year while recruiting a consistently more diverse and talented incoming class. His tenure has included critical updates to LMU’s undergraduate recruitment process, including the decision to remove application barriers by going SAT/ACT optional, and the shift to engaging with prospective students using an online event model that allows broader access to families from across the country.
In his new role, Tom will also oversee the team of professionals responsible for creating partnerships, programs, and initiatives that support prospective and current transfer students. This organizational shift comes as Vanessa Miranda, the current director of Transfer Admission and Enrollment Services, steps away to pursue an exciting new chapter for her family. Vanessa started at LMU in 2014 and has been instrumental in serving our transfer student population while also assisting continuing students in navigating potential enrollment barriers. I am grateful to Vanessa for her service to our students and for her willingness to continue her work for the next few months to ensure a successful transition.
Please join me in congratulating Associate Vice Provost Gutto on his many accomplishments and thanking Vanessa Miranda for her work elevating LMU’s reputation as a premier institution for transfer student success. I wish Vanessa luck in her next endeavor and am grateful Tom will continue serving in this critical role at LMU.
